Corn Production for the 2020/21 Season Closed at 50.5 million toneses

Corn Production for the 2020/21 Season Closed at 50.5 million toneses

This is a significant figure, given the adverse climatic conditions of the last heavy season, and even more so when the decline is only 1.9% year-on-year, representing the third highest production in the last 20 years.

At the end of the year, the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange published the figures for the 2020/21 corn campaign. Among the most outstanding figures, it is worth noting that 6.6 million hectares were sown, the highest in the last 20 seasons. It also ended 3.5 million tons higher than the initial production forecast, due to an increase of 300,000 hectares compared with the first sowing estimate and the excellent yields reported in the province of Córdoba.

Thus, total national production reached 50.5 million tones, reflecting a 1.9% year-on-year decline and positioning it as the third-largest production in the past 20 seasons.

The national average yield was 78.6 qt/ha down 3 qt/ha compared to the previous cycle. However, it remains 1.3 qt/ha above the average of the last 5 seasons.

Despite the production decline, the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange indicated that it will contribute an added value of USD 14.83 billion to the Argentine economy in 2021; 20% above last year’s value, thanks to a recorded increase in crop prices, which are higher than the maximums of the last eight seasons.

The International Grain Market Outlook

The International Grain Market Outlook

As the U.S. defines the supply it will bring to market, volatility in vegetable oils continues. Brazil requires moisture to begin planting, and local price ratios improve relative to CME.

The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange published the final figures for the 2020/21 corn season. Among the most notable statistics, it indicates that 6.6 million hectares were planted, the largest area in the past 20 seasons. Additionally, total production ended 3.5 MT above the initial production projection, due to an increase of 300,000 hectares’ year-on-year compared to the first planting estimate, as well as excellent yields reported in the province of Córdoba.

Thus, total national production reached 50.5 MT, reflecting a 1.9% year-on-year decline and positioning it as the third-largest production in the past 20 seasons.

The national average yield was 78.6 qt/Ha, down 3 qt/Ha compared to the previous cycle. However, it remains 1.3 qt/Ha above the average of the last 5 seasons.

Despite the production decline, the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange indicated that it will contribute an added value of USD 14.83 billion to the Argentine economy in 2021, 20% above last year’s value, thanks to a recorded increase in crop prices, which exceed the highs of the past eight seasons.

Evolution of Agro Parts: New blades for high-speed sowing

Evolution of Agro Parts: New blades for high-speed sowing

For high-speed sowing, we have developed new blades, similar to traditional Turbo blades, but with reverse waves to optimize performance.

This evolution of agro parts was presented at Expoagro 2023, held from March 7 to 10 in the city of San Nicolás.

Ingersoll’s AL 26 blades, part of the Turbo blade segment, feature 26 waves and are available in 16″, 17″, and 18″ versions.

The design of the waves in reverse orientation allows for greater planter speed, enabling the blades to perform the same soil tillage as previous Turbo blades.

This innovation follows the trend set by planting equipment in the Argentine market.
